Don’t let your Youth Tour journey end when you return from D.C.! Take advantage of our additional engagement opportunities to stay engaged with NRECA, your statewide association, your local cooperative and the electric cooperative industry. From internships to staff assistants to connecting with fellow alumni, stay engaged and start building your network today.

Staff assistant program 

Can’t get enough of D.C. and NRECA’s Youth Programs? Come back to D.C. and help ensure the program is successful for a new generation of delegates! NRECA’s staff assistant program is the next step in your NRECA journey, allowing you to build leadership, public speaking and networking skills while getting to work behind the scenes to make the program you love a success!  

Requirements:  

  • Be an alumnus of the Electric Cooperative Youth Tour or the Youth Leadership Council.  
  • Be two years out from your Youth Tour year. For example, if Youth Tour in 2023, you can apply to be a staff assistant in 2025. 
  • Are younger than 25 during the Youth Tour.  

Applications are now open for the 2025 Youth Programs staff assistant. Applications are due by midnight ET on April 6, 2025.

Internships in the electric cooperative industry

Take advantage of your electric cooperative network as an intern at NRECA! NRECA offers 12-week paid summer internships in our Arlington and Lincoln offices. Internships are offered across a variety of disciplines, offering substantive project experience and exposing students to the diversity of this dynamic industry. The application period runs from February through early March.

Educational scholarships 

The Glenn English National Cooperative Leadership Foundation encourages educational advancement by awarding high education scholarships to eligible students. Since its inception in 2014, the foundation has awarded over $100,000 in scholarships.
